Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I've been divorced for about 14 years during that time I received spousal support and child support. My son went to live with his father for a month at which time dcse stop all payments to me. My ex was told he must continue to pay spousal support by dcse- he did not. After 2 months of staying with his father my son return to me. He continued paymets up until the month before my son graduated ,my son was 17. My son graduated in June/06 and turned 18 in July/06. I did not received a payment for June, I'm not sure if I should have received a July payment. Spousal support also stopped. In my divorced degree there was not a time set on how long he was to pay spousal support. I remarried Jan. of this year. I would like to know if I can sue him for the previous years payments he never paid?
