Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Divorce/Health insurance

I am divorcing my husband of 20 years. It was going to be friendly until he decided to sue me. I work 2 jobs and he is on disability. He is suing me to force me to pay for his health insurance for the rest of his life. He can easily qualify for medicare/medicaid once we are divorced. Can he really do this?

I don't know about your having to pay "for his health insurance for the rest of his life", but it's certainly conceivable that a court might order you to pay for your husband's health insurance as part of an equitable distribution of marital property that could last for at least some years until he qualifies for medicare.
