Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Domestic Abuse

I just now found out that in 2006 while my daughters mother was married to a man that she filed a protective order against her husband for Domestic Abuse. And I also found out that in 2007 she plead guilt to theft, fraud of identity info, and forgery of Priv Documents these are all out on the court cases information system. Is this enough to take her to court and try to get custody changed? and Do you think I should get an attorney or just present this myself to the court? Can you recommend a good attorney that can work in Manassas? Thank you.

Re: Domestic Abuse

No, the items which you've mentioned do not(and would not) in my opinion in and of themselves prove that the mother is necessarily unfit for purposes of maintaining her current custody of the subject child nor would they necessarily demonstrate the material change in the conditions relevant to the issue of custody that would warrant the court granting a change of custody to you (again in my opinion).

You may wish, nevertheless, to consult with an attorney in your area for another opinion and further advice on the matter.
