Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Domestic Violence, I want to keep my child
I've been living with this man since 99.We've a 7yrs old son.Our primary language is Spanish we are not coming from the same country. He decided that his son would not speak spanish because he does not like hispanics nor blacks but he loves white people. This is racism. When my son was born I was new in the area and he forbbiden me to get to my son any friend that wasn't white. He has always been very verbally emotionally abusive to me and controlling with everything related to my son.He doesn't want me to be part of my son's life.He even keeps my son's birth certificate and SSN hidden. The house where we live is his.He had asked me to leave many times.he doesn't want me there he just wants to keep our son. He is not divorce yet and the wife as far as I know was arrested for drugs. He is epileptic and he doesn't take medication.I work as nurse assistant at night and take care of elderly people some mornings.I try to spend as much time as I can with my son but since he works in a car dealer his schedule is more flexible and pushes me aside many times. He is not a good role model for my son.Last week he got phisically abusive to me I called the police but he lied to them and reverse things. What can I do to get my son's custody?

Get a lawyer and file for full custody of your son---and be prepared to move out of the place where you are now living. (If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer on your own, contact one of the low cost legal services providers in your area to see whether they can assist you.)
