Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

emancipation

if i wanted to emancipate myself do i have to live on my own or can i move in with a relative? I am 16 and have been working since I was fourteen. I have been paying pretty much everything for myself except for rent for many years. My aunt has offered me to move in with her if she charged me a certain amount every month could that constitute as rent?

Re: emancipation

Emancipation for minors is rarely a good idea. If your parent(s) have no objection, you could move in with your aunt anyway without being emancipated and then you see how things work out---or not.
