Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Self employment income and child support guidelines

Where can I find information on how to determine income if your self employed. My ex says his "business expenses = $220,000/yr.". He is the only employee, has no office and does computer consulting. He "pays himself" $30,000/yr. and that is what is used in our child support guidelines. Are there any laws that can help me dispute this? He is using his business to hide his income.

Re: Self employment

Different self-employed businesses have different percentages of average overhead. In addition, the expenses need to be examined line by line for reasonableness. I recommend hiring an expert, probably a CPA.
