Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Endangered Spouse
What is endangered spouse? I was told that if I claim this on my taxes, than my husband's exwife can not take my income in consideration for child support purposes. Is this true? They got a divorce in VA.

Additional note: Your income cannot be considered either by the Virginia Child Support Guidelines (nor by your husband's former spouse) for the purpose of determining what he should pay in child support for his childfren from this prior marriage.

Re: Endangered Spouse
Under Virginia law, you are in no way responsible for paying child support for your husband's children from a prior marriage, irrespective of what you claim on your taxes.
