Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I am about to get engaged to a single mother. We live in VA, however she is currently going to court for Child Support for her 15 month old son, and his father lives in NJ. If i marry her prior to this child support issue being resolved does it negatively impact what she could get from the father to support his biological son and 2) would the state look at me as legally responsible and drop the case on him??

No, to both questions. (Your income cannot be considered in the formula
used to calculate the child support owed by the father in New Jersey and you
can never be considered responsible for the support of this father's child unless
you adopt the child as your own.)
