Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Am I entitled to half of my husbands reenlistment bonus if we divorce?

My husband and I are separated. We

have been married a year and a half.

Recently he told me that he was

reenlisting for a large bonus and he

was traveling to a tax free area to do

so. During out marriage, I paid all of

the bills, bought him anything he

asked for and helped him get his

credit straightened out. I helped to

pay off a 10,000 credit card bill that

was his ALONE. I saw it as investing

in a future together, he saw it as a

free ride. Am I entitled to any of this

money that he will be getting from

the reenlistment? We will still be

married when he does it.

Sure, if you can somehow lay your hands on it, e.g., if he were to deposit some of it in a jointly-held account, you could withdraw whatever was there.
