Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have equity from a home I owned when I got married that I now plan to put into a new home for myself and child. My wife owns the home we are currently in. Can she stake any claim to my home purchase if done while we are still legally married, or am I clear since she never had any part of the original home?

Yes, the equity you've desribed should be considered your sole

property under Virginia law unless your wife somehow contributed to

the orignial purchase price funds for the property and/or its increase in equity

during the course of the marriage.
