Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Establishing paternity
My husband has a 14 year old son from his previous marriage whom we have had custody of since the child was 8. My husband has had serious doubts as to whether he is the actual father or not. If he requests a paternity test now and it is established that he is not the father what happens?? Is he stripped of all parental rights and obligations?

Re: Establishing paternity
I believe that is probably correct, based on VA law. If the child turned out to be unrelated to you, you are unlikely to obtain visitation rights over the objection of the single mother.
