Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
estimated costs to date
I have been ordered to pay 58% of the cost for my son's Bar Mitzvah. The order says ''the court finds that the estimated costs to date of $6000.00 for the Bar Mitzvah are reasonable.'' I have sent my x-wife to date $3470.00, (with a notation in the memo that it was final pmt for the Bar Mitzvah and she cashed the checks with this memo), or 58% of $6000.00. She now says I owe her more money because she spent $7200.00 on the occasion. Am I now responsible to pay her more because she went over the reasonable amount that the court acknowledged of $6000.00? The Bar Mitzvah has already occurred in November.

Re: estimated costs to date
It depends on how the actual wording of the order is most reasonably construed, i.e, whether the
58% refers to actual cost or estimated cost.
Without being able to view the order
with the actual wording and its context, I would
not be able to say one way or the other.
