Ex-fiance wants to sue

My sister's ex-fiance is threatening to sue me, my mother, and sister for entering his house to retrieve my sister's property after they broke up. They lived together for 7 years. He gave permission to come get her things on a certain day and time, which we did. Door was unlocked, he was not home. Now, he says we messed things up. Could he sue me? How can I protect myself?
