Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
My ex-husband and I share joint custody of our two children. He is the primary custodian. I live in Virginia he lives in Ohio. According to our custody agreement I am responsible for our childrens health care. I have upheld my agreement and have had health care coverage for them for years even before we were seperated. My ex-husband lied on a medicaid application so that he can get medicaid for our children. He stated that I was not covering our daughters on my insurance and has been recieving medicaid for them for some time.
Today I received a letter from the Child Support Enforcement Agency in Ohio stating that I must have coverage for my children and they sent a letter to my employer. I am already covering my children and this shouldn't be an issue. I am sending a letter in response with a copy of my insurance card and a copy of my benefits enrollment showing that they were covered in 2009 and are continuing coverage through 2010. What else can I do? Will he be punished for lying on his medicaid application? Can I take any legal action against him for lying about me and affecting my work environment?

Sure, you can try, but its not likely to yield you any real money. And you should consider how this will affect your children. It is a good idea to consult an attorney before you do anything. Good luck.
