extraordinary medical bills

My divorce agreement states that the I ,the husband ''shall pay all ordinary medical and dental expenses for the said minor children, to the extent the same are not covered by insurance,...'ordinary' medical and dental expenses include items such as routine check-ups and treatment, filling of simple cavaties, treatment of minor ailments, and drug supplies incident to the treatment of minor ailments. All other medical and dental expenses not considered 'ordinary' are considered 'extraordinary' including but not limited to orthodontia, psychological, and psychiatric expenses.'' These etraordinary expenses are to be split. My question to you is what does extraordinary mean? My daughter had surgery on her tonsils and adnoids...Is this considered an extraordinary expense or not?

Re: extraordinary medical bills

Generally, yes. Ordinary expenses arguably include medically necessary expenses. Extraordinary usually refers to elective or cosmetic procedures.

If it is not spelled out with clarity, such examples are often litigated. It's what keeps lawyers in business.

Good luck.
