Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Family Disputes

My son's girlfriend is having his baby. She is wanting to give the baby up for adoption. My son doesnt have the financial ability to fight for the baby. As the grandfather, do I have rights to fight and take the baby instead of giving it away for adoption?

Re: Family Disputes

If you want to "fight for the baby" as the child's grandfather, to have any chance of success it will most likely have to be done through your son (whose efforts in this regard apparently you would have to bankroll) as your legal standing with respect to the subject child merely as a grandfather would unlikely be sufficient to forestall or prevent the child's adoption(in my opinion).
