Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My family found out recently that my cousin who lived and worked in Virginia died in 2008. I have talked to a friend of his and she gave me as much information as to the cause of his death as she knew. Whenever she called to talk to him, the woman who he married a few months before his death kept intercepting his calls and would not let her talk to him. I would like to obtain a copy of his death cert. but due to their state laws, I am not considered his next of kin even though his father & mother were sister & brother to my parents.

The woman he married a few months before his death is legally his next of kin, but she will not answer her phone & when I leave a message asking for information so that the family here in Michigan can have closure, she calls back leaving a message for me stating "don't call here again". What can I do? My mother and aunt are elderly and ask about him frequently. I haven't the heart to tell them of his death without knowing what was the cause. Is there any way that I can obtain a copy of his death cert.?

Of course, death certificates are public records and normally

anyone is entilted to inspect or obtain copies of them. You should

write or go online to the Virginia Bureau of Vital Records in

Richmond to obtain a copy of this particular death certificate.
