Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Father's Rights
My son-in-law has 2 children he supports that live in Virginia. He resides here is Mississippi. He has no clue where they are living. His ex-wife ''hides'' her whereabouts from him, but he has his child support taken out of his paycheck on a regular basis. He does not want to hurt his children by disrupting their lives. It's been several years since he has seen them. Does he still have to continue the child support? What can he do?

Re: Father's Rights
Two wrongs don't make a right, so your son does have to continue to pay child support. However, if he does have court-ordered rights of visitation, he can file against the mom for contempt of court.
Re: Father's Rights
I have been successful getting a court to order the Division of Child Support Enforcement to reveal the mother's address. Your son-in-law does, however, have to continue paying child support; visitation and contact are not permitted to be directly related to child support payments.
