Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Where can I file for divorce?

My wife and I live in Virginia right now, but are both legal residents of Illinois. I'm in the military and I'm a bit confused about which state I can file for divorce in. We were married in Hawaii, live in Virginia, and residents of Illinois. Can you help me please?

Re: Where can I file for divorce?

If Virginia was the last place your lived together, you can file in Virginia (assuming you have lived here for six months.) The spouse not filing will have to waive the Sailors and Soldier's Act protections.
