Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I just filed for custody and child support of my 19 mo old yesterday. Her father filed for custody as well. I have been looking for a job for months and If I am offered a job in Atlanta can I take the position before my court date? I just finished my MPH and I have been looking for a job for months. I finally made some good connections and I may have some promising offers in the next week.
The father keeps the kids once a month and he only filed for custody to avoid child support. My family lives in Atlanta and I want to move back down there with them. Am I able to transfer the case before the hearing? Can I move and just come back for the hearing in 6 weeks?

Your proposed move should be no problem as long as you come back to Virginia for the scheduled hearing and obey whatever court order(s) are handed down.(The foregoing assumes that as of now you are not under any court order which would prevent your move or require that you give advance notice
of the move to either the court or to the father.)
