Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

How do I go about filing evidence?

My husband & I are preparing for a hearing for which he filed papers against his ex-wife for a show-cause, as she is not giving him court-ordered visitation with his kids. She has retained a lawyer & has the kids' therapist as a witness. The lawyer who represented him in the last hearing said that since she is the one in contempt & we have kept a calendar & notes since Christmas of 2006, there's really no reason for him to pay a lawyer to represent him. What do we need to do in order to have our documentation entered as evidence? Do we just take it with us on the day of court, or do we need to do something with it beforehand? Also, the original court date was yesterday. Her lawyer filed for continuance 6 days before and by the notes @ the courthouse, there was nothing sent to notify us of the change so we appeared. Who is responsible for notifying, & is there action we can take, as he took a day from work without pay & drove an hour & a half for nothing. He called ahead & as an oversight was told he was on the docket for that day. By the day it gets to court (May) it will have been 9 months from the time he petitioned the court for not getting his visititation with his kids. This is very disheartening. Any suggestions?

I disagree that the hearing will simply be about submitting your notes and records, and would strongly advise that you get an attorney to represent you at this hearing.
