filing the Marital Settlement & Separation Agreements

once signed and notorized can I file this with the court, then file for divorce in a year after separation in VA, doing this myself??

You may but are not required to file a separation agreement. Also, while you may undertake this yourself, I would nonetheless suggest an attorney review the agreement that was reached, in light of the significant effect it will have.
