Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Filing separation papers to get divorce started
I am acting on behalf of my son who has given me power of attorney. I have the signed separation papers which states adultery was committed by his wife. He wants to get a divorce in Virginia while he is working in Iraq. How do I file the papers and start the divorce. Do I need to go to an attorney?

Yes, you should see an attorney first before filing any papers in this matter; the attorney will likely advise that under the circumstances described that other grounds be cited as the legal basis for your son's divorce, if at all possible.
