Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Financial Abuse

I was a stay at home mom for 12 years. I am now working part time.

The marriage has been rocky for 6 years now. He is an alcoholic and has lost his license for 3 years due to a dui. He has all of the sudden decided that he is not going to pay certain bills that happen to be in my name. I can not afford these bills. He has financially cut me off. What legal rights do I have??? How can I get him to pay these bills he's been paying for years?

Re: Financial Abuse

If your husband has been paying "these bills ...for years", presumably they are bills for which he is in some way liable and are likely marital debt for which both of you would be responsible. If true, he should understand that if they're not paid, the bill collectors will soon be after him as well as you.
