Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

trying find info on court awarded federal retirement benefit. i file a claim on my exwife retirement benefit that was part of a divorce decree filed in 1996 in the state of virginia court. the opm sent me letter saying that they are unable to process this court order under part 838 of title 5 of the code of federal regulation. is there a way to fix this problem or too have the divorce paper change to show the infomation that opm needs.

Better arrange for a consultation with a local attorney who is knowledgeble and

experienced with Virginia divorce issues, including obtaining and integrating into

final decrees of divorce Qualified Domestic Relations Orders obtained from

the circuit court which can then be processed through the OPM to attach

a spouse's retirement benefit.
