Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Forced to submit my baby to a paternity test by unacknowledged father?

I am pregnant and do not want to acknowledge the man who i am 100% sure is the father on the child's birth certificate.

I will not ask him for child support, nor do i want him involved in my or the child's life because of his emotional issues.

He found out I am pregnant and is threatening to have me court ordered to submit my baby to a paternity test in order to force me to allow him visitation rights.

Can he do this?

Re: Forced to submit my baby to a paternity test by unacknowledged father?

Yes. He can file a motion for visitation or custody, present sufficient evidence to suggest he is the father and if you deny he is he can ask for a paternity test and once he is established as the father he has constitutional rights to be made a part of the child's life.

May I suggest moving far away with no forwarding address?

Good luck
