Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Full Custody

I'm a single mother. My son's father does not help me provide for him. One minute it seems like he wants to be part of his life but the next he goes weeks without even calling to check on him. He's on child support but does not have a job to pay for it. He's irresponsible and I really want to get full custody of our son. How can I gain full custody of my child? What are the chances of me winning if he does not have a job, a felony, and living based on his mother's income?

Re: Full Custody

The court would need to know what material change(s) in circumstances have occurred since the last order involving custody(presumably shared) which woould now justify the court changing the order for shared custody and giving full custody to you.

If no such material change can be demonstrated by you, then it would be unlikely for the court to order any changes with respect to the current custody order.
