Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Full custody

Hello

Im a victim of domestic violence, and at present, I have been awarded temporary full custody of our 1 year old son until my husband's court appearance this month. I have been trying to be fair with him for the sake of the child, and I was willing to make arrangements to have joint custody, but my husband (the perpetrator) is being vengeful, and is trying to make up lies about me (to make me look like im unfit mother).I beleive he doesnt have any proof to prove that im unfit (b'se im not), except that my income is low (37000/year), while my husband makes 120,000. Do you think that the court system may favor my husband and grant him full custody of our son b'se he has financial means (that is providing him with a better lifestyle than me), and if so, what do I need to do to increase my chances of retaining full custody of our son?

Re: Full custody

There are numerous other factors that the court must and(will) consider other than individual parental income in deciding as to what is in your child's best interests in regard to the custody issue.

However, if your husband is determined to undertake efforts to prove you an unfit parent at the upcoming hearing, you should retain the services of legal counsel in order to countervail these efforts.
