Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have a German wife and we have a son together. He is a US citizen but born in Germany. I'm in the military and we are getting ready to pcs back to Germany. My wife think that once we get to Germany she will take my son from me. My son will be traveling on govt orders with govt passport with me what steps should I take in advance to prevent her from doing this and can she do this? I don't know the German laws and she's not employed

You will need a valid order from a U.S. court granting you custody

of your son; otherwise, your wife will likely being applying

for the same from a German court once she has settled back

into the familair environs of Deutschland.
