Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

my girlfriend wants to move from cali to va with her son. her husband is in the navy and is deployed/gone alot. could she do this if that is her home of residence? and without legal penalty?

Depends upon whether there's a current court order in California which would prevent such a move on her part or at the very least require her to give advance notice to the court as well as to her husband of her intent to make this kind of a major relocation.
