Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

giving out false information

My sister and I share a house. We each have seperate phones. She has voice mail through the phone company. But she has on her voice mail message that I do not live at that address. Can I sue her for giving out false information and can I also sue the phone company, since it is there product that she is using?

Re: giving out false information

I see no basis for a viable suit on either grounds.(There surely must be another way to resolve this dispute with your sister other than court action.)

Re: giving out false information

Why is she saying this if it is not true? This sounds a bit silly. Can your parents or someone else not help you guys resolve this?

If she won't remove it by you asking nicely or via some other intervention, you might be able to seek an injunction. A lawsuit will not likely yield you any real money, even if you can show monetary damages, which would be difficult. If nothing else works, I would think a mere threat of court action might help you more than anything.
