Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My God-daughters' grandmother who has court appointed custody, would like to give me God-mother a Power of Attorney for the child. Does she need to notify the courts? Also, is there a special form that we need to use?

POA for what purpose? And, yes, there is a "special form" for this document which can depend upon the purpose of its intended use.
