Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

We are grandparents with sole custody of our 5 y/o grandson. His parents are separated and planning to divorce. The custody order gives his mother and his father every other weekend resulting in him never being home on a weekend. We were thinking of petitioning the court to give us a weekend. Would a VA family court consider this?

Yes, of course, particularly in view of the fact that you already have

sole custody. (The court, however, would likely prefer that some

agreement regarding the visitation schedule be first worked out between you and the parents.)
