Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Harrasment across state lines

My mother-in-law is mentally ill (Paranoid Schizophrenic). She has gone off of her meds and now calls my home 20-30 times a day on our business line (we own our own business) and she faxes over nasty letters. It is interfering with our business as she is tying up the lines constantly. She lives in NJ and we live in VA. How do I get a restraining order against her to stop the harrassment. We have asked her to stop calling that line but she refuses. I have many many letters and I can print out from my vonage account all the phone calls to prove the harrasment. Is there a way to get a restraining order over state lines? If not is there something I can do legally to stop this?

I assume her doctor and insurance company are aware of her non-compliance with doctor's orders? In addition to an order, a lawsuit might get her attention. Would be happy to talk with you or refer you to someone if you like.

Any valid and effective restraining order against this poor soul in New Jersey would most likely have to originate in one of the courts of that jurisdiction rather than the Commonwealth of Virginia.
