Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Health Insurance

My Daughter was taken to the ER and transferred to 3 different hospitals and her mother used her ex-husbands insurance but they have been divorced and have been for over a year he is not her father so she is not covered under him anymore. I just found this out when I went to the hospital and gave the financial services lady my insurance info to help with the bill. I know that with the court order I am to pay 47% of the bill so I have no problem giving my info to any Dr. that my child needs to see. So my question is in Virginia do both parents have to have health insurance for the child? She is the custodial parent. And since she has been using false insurance, even when I have told her to give me any Dr. info and I will call can give my insurance. Is this illegal?

The answer is, no, both parents of a child are not

automatically by law required to carry health insurance for this child unless it's so ordered by a court.
