Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
hi...
my spouse is a resident in Virginia. We both own a house in PA and i'm a resident in PA. my spouse is about to file for divorce and i'm not sure which state he will file in. i am waiting for him to file first. i am hoping he files here in PA..but he will go with the state that serves him best. ive tried finding the difference of the two states...but not sure of the pros and cons. can u help me decide if i need to file in PA before he Files in VA- so it would be in my best interest? if the laws are the same....then i would rather wait as ive been told for some reason its better if he files first? thank you

A Virginia circuit (divorce) court would normally have no jurisdiction (power)
to adjudicate the disposition of marital property located in Pennsylvania unless
the other state spouse (you) personally submitted yourself to the personal
jurisdiction of the Virginia court.
