Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband was an absent faher when his children from a previous marrage were younger. They are now 6 and he has been financally supporting them for a year because he wants to be part of their life this is not court ordered. Their mother will not let him see them and tells them he doesn't have a chance in court because he was absent for a while. Is their anything we can do?

Yes, he could file for visitation rights in the J&DR;court in the locality

where these children reside. (The mother is simply wrong on this issue.)
