If you failed to appear (after having been properly subpoenaed),

the prosecutor might ask the court to issue what's called a Rule

Against the Witness, i.e., a summons for you to appear before the court

to explain your absence from the scheduled trial.

Without your appearance at trial as the chief witness for the Commonwealth,

the prosecutor would likely have to dismiss the case.
