Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband got into some financial trouble and rushed me to DVM to put his truck in my name. no money was exchanged. He put on there that he sold it to me for $3,000. Then he told me that to protect himself for me selling the truck that he put a lien on it for $5,000.

This was in May now on Aug 1st. He is separating from me. I of course would like to have the truck or money for the truck so I will have a place to live. Is there anything I can do?

Hopefully without a lawyer although with divorce and custody I know I will need one but can't afford one.

Do nothing with respect to this issue until you have retained

the services of competent counsel to prepare a property

settlement agreement in your behalf which can then deal with

this and other important issues which need to be resolved

as part of the formal dissolution of your marriage.

In the meantime, your conniving spouse should be aware that

he may be prosecuted for perpetrating a document fraud

on a Virginia state agency and/or, perhaps, other related crimes.
