my husband has joint custody but is the noncustodial parent. the mother of the child recently sent their 7 year old son to a mental hospital without consulting him. what rights does he have in this situation

Well, if your husband has joint custody of the boy and disagrees with this action, he should be able to request that his son be released from the mental health facility into his custody.
