Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

my husband pays child support for his daughter, who is 16. He was just informed by his daughter that she has not lived with her mother since the end of June, 09, and that her mother has been using the support money he has paid to support her drug and alcohol problem. Is there anything my husband can do about this as we live in Vermont and she lives in Virginia?

If the child support is paid directly to the mother and the child continues to live elsewhere, your husband will need to request a hearing on the matter in the Virginia court which has jurisdiction over his child support case.

However, if his funds are paid through the Division of Child Support Enfocement(DCSE), he could make his concerns known to this agency and request that they look into the matter and take whatever action(s) that may be appropriate.
