Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband was in prison for 10 years and has been out for 10 years now. While locked up in built an arr-age of child support. For the last 7 years he has had many taken from his pay check each month and his tax check taken each year. His oldest son has been dead for 6 yrs. and his youngest son is now 25, his ex is trying to take my husband to court to bump up the arr age amount bc she is in need of extra money. It doesn't seem to matter how much is paid the amount is still sooo high bc of interest. Does he have any legal rights at this point? He will be retired and still paying this arr age. This seems to me to have gotten out of hand. Please help!!

Yes, your husband should engage the services of an attorney with

experience in dealing with child support issues in the courts of

Virginia as well as DCSE administrative orders so that the

entire matter can be reviewed and a determination made as to what

might now be done (if anything) to get these arrearages reduced

to a level which your husband will have some prospect of being able to pay off.
