Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband and his ex put their child up for adoption. They filled out all the paperwork including the paperwork of him signing over his parental rights. Does his paperwork become void just cause she took the child back and does she have the right to go for chid support?

I do not know enough facts regarding the paperwork which was completed. But if the final order was not signed off by the judge - then the adoption is most likely not final. If mom keeps child -husband will most likely be responsible for child support.
