Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

i don't have job or any income how do i get help from a 26 year relationship that has been mental and physical cruelty and very high intimidation. and he not offering any money i think he just want me to be totally depended on him .

So, what is the nature of this 26 year relationship, marriage or not? If the latter, you can pretty much forget about asserting any viable legal claims for compensation (in my opinion).
