Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

me and my ex have joint custody of our son, i have custodial rights. to give her custodial rights do we need a lawyer of can we just write it on a piece of paper and sign and notorize it?

You need to go back to the court that awarded joint custody (which may require a lawyer) and file a motion to modify this custody order. (Attempting to write it up on a piece of paper would have no legal effect whatsoever.)
