Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have joint legal custody with my xhusband in Virigina, Stipulates primary residence is with the mother and reasonable visitation by the father. Do I need to petition to move out of state? I just got a job offer in TX and my position in Va is terminating.

No, not petition, but notify both your former husband and the court of your intended move at least 30 days in advance. (See Va. Code Sec. 20-124.5 Notification of relocation.)
