Re: joint legal and physical custody

According to the Income Shares Formula which

the Virginia Child Support Guidelines use to determine basic child support obligations, both parents have a responsibility for a share of the support necessary for their child or children,

but if one parent has substantially less income

than the other and, perhaps, other deductible expenses such as daycare, which the other parent may not have, then the formula might end up in determining that one parent should pay x amount and the other nothing, even though both parents share equally in the joint physical custody---as, apparently, in your situation.
