Jurisdiction over child custody

My father has sole legal custody in north carolina of my son. My son has been staying with me since september 2002 and attending school here in chesterfield co. My son is 14 yrs.old and now his natural father is sueing me here in chesterfield. Which state has Jurisdiction??

Re: Jurisdiction over child custody

If your son has been living with you continously

for more than six months, the Chesterfield courts most likely will be able to assert jurisdiction

over the custody matter. Also, now that your son is over age 14, the court will give considerable weight as to which parent he wants to live with.
