If your son is the subject child's father, he will be legally obligated to pay child support from the time of that determination to about the time the subject child graduates from high school or turns age 19, which ever occurs first.

If the woman files papers to obtain such support, your son should engage the services of an attorney to represent him in this matter. The lawyer will request that a DNA test be performed to determine whether your son in fact is the biological father of the subject child and will make sure that if he is, that the child support guidelines will be correctly calculated and applied to determine his support obligation, taking into consideration your son's current family obligations.

On the bright side, viewing this situation from a practical point of view, even if your son is found to be the father and obligated to pay suppport, the obligation will probably not continue for more than about 2.5 years or so when the child legally becomes an adult.
