Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Can I get my lawyer to call an ''emergency meeting'' with the judge?

A friend's soon-to-be ex-husband is three months late paying her mortgage, which he was ordered by the court to pay. She has a hearing with the judge in the early part of June, and her lawyer wants to address this issue then, but the house will be foreclosed on before that. Can she call the judge in for an emergency meeting on this? Her lawyer says she can't.

Thank you.

You may wish to consult with another attorney who practices in that court that has jurisdiction over your case.

In my jurisdiction, Northern Virginia, that would be absolutely wrong. You could go in on any motions day (each Friday in most courts around here) and require him to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court for failing to abide by the court's order to pay the mortgage. Contempt of court can be punishable by incarceration.
